Fountains Abbey
Fountains Abbey (two exhibitions held in 1989 and 1995)
Fountains Abbey, which I soon became acquainted with on returning to Yorkshire (in 1972) was a place with a unique atmosphere. As a guide there for fifteen years, and interested for a long time in religion and religious buildings, I studied the academic aspect as well as the artistic beauties of the place. Two exhibitions were held in Fountains Hall, for the first time in pastels, which I felt captured the feeling of the changing seasons and colour of the sandstone.
